I routinely take candid photos of people who are oblivious to the camera. I try to be 'invisible'. But it doesn’t always work out that way. And so, you can think of the photographs in this series as 'failures' because the subjects have caught me out and are looking into the camera. They are expressing warmth, friendliness, amazement, indifference, bewilderment, anger, annoyance, showmanship, and so on. Their reactions register the presence of the photographer – the intruder.
